How To Do the Tik Tok Dog Painting Challenge!

How To Do the Tik Tok Dog Painting Challenge!

During my hours of scrolling through Tik Tok one day I came across an art project that I can do with my dog! Since I don’t yet have kids to create pieces of art I can proudly hang on my fridge, I figured my dog was the next best thing. And let’s be honest, arts and crafts done by a dog is much cuter than when it’s done by kids anyway. As it turns out, dogs can create perfect paintings with just a little bit of help from their humans. Today I’m sharing how to do the Tik Tok dog painting challenge with your furry friend.

Supplies

The Tik Tok dog paining challenge is simple and inexpensive to do. You’ll only need four materials to create the “pawfect” masterpiece:

  • Paint
  • Canvas
  • Peanut Butter
  • A clear plastic bag

You’ll probably be able to find most of these supplies in your home already. However, if you don’t keep canvases and paint laying around, you can easily purchase them on Amazon.

How to Complete the Tik Tok Dog Painting Challenge

1. Pick Your Paints

You can use as many or as few different paint colors as you want. I went with three different shades of purple.

I would recommend using at least two colors, but you could use as many as 5 or 6 if you’d like!

2. Cover Your Canvas

After picking your paints, squeeze them out all over the canvas in whatever order you choose. I applied the paint in random squiggly lines all over the canvas.

3. Place the Canvas In A Bag

Once you’ve applied your paints, place the canvas into a clear plastic bag.

4. Put Peanut Butter On the Bag

Put your peanut butter on the bag in globs making sure to cover the majority of the bag. I went back and added more peanut butter to the bag in areas that my dog missed, as she was “painting”.

If peanut butter isn’t your dogs thing you can also use treats such as yogurt, applesauce, or whipped cream!

Note: Gently place the peanut butter onto the bag rather than spreading it. If you attempt to spread the peanut butter you’ll alter the design of the painting before your dog gets to.

5. Let Your Dog Paint

The final step of the Tik Tok dog painting challenge is to let your dog create their masterpiece! Place the canvas in the bag on the ground and let your dog go to town licking off all the peanut butter.

As your dog licks the peanut butter off the bag, they’ll smudge the paint inside creating a unique piece of artwork on their own!

6. Admire Your Dogs Masterpiece

Once the peanut butter has been licked clean from the bag, remove the canvas and admire your dogs work of art!

My dog had so much fun creating her very own artwork and I can’t wait to hang it on my wall once it dries.

This project was so fun and simple and a great way to give your dog a treat while getting something in return.

DIY Dog Toothpaste Recipe Made From Ingredients in Your Kitchen

DIY Dog Toothpaste Recipe Made From Ingredients in Your Kitchen

Dental health is important for not just humans, but for our dogs as well. Dental disease is one of the most common types of diseases seen in dogs by veterinarians, specifically, periodontal disease. If you neglect your dogs dental health you’re risking bad breath, teeth loss, and gum disease for your pet. Brushing your dogs teeth is one of the best things you can do to keep your furry friend happy and healthy. February is National Pet Dental Health Month, so today I’m sharing a DIY dog toothpaste recipe that can be made with ingredients from your kitchen.

Ingredients

The basic ingredients needed for a DIY dog toothpaste are coconut oil and baking soda.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is a natural ingredient that can be used to clean your dogs teeth. The anti-microbial properties in coconut oil will remove bacteria from your dogs teeth, helping to keep plaque from building.

Coconut oil is safe for dogs to ingest and can even help aid in digestion making it the perfect ingredient for DIY dog toothpaste.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda can be used in dog toothpaste in small quantities. The grittiness of baking soda will help clean tarter build up and kill bacteria that may be growing in your dogs mouth.

While it is perfectly safe to use in small amounts, too much baking soda can be harmful for your dog to ingest so be mindful of how much you are using.

Keep It Simple

  1. Baking Soda
  2. Coconut Oil

Combine melted coconut oil with baking soda, apply to your finger or a dog toothbrush, and scrub your dogs teeth.

Make It Yummy

To make the DIY dog toothpaste more appealing to your pup, add some chicken or beef broth in with your baking soda and coconut oil mixture. The meaty flavor will encourage your pet to allow you to brush their teeth.

Freshen It Up

  1. Parsley
  2. Mint Leaves
  3. Cinnamon

Adding parsley, mint leaves, or cinnamon to your dogs toothpaste will help freshen your pets breath while cleaning their teeth.

Buy It Instead

If making your own DIY dog toothpaste isn’t your thing, there are plenty of options for already made dog toothpaste on the market. Pick one that your pup enjoys the taste of, so that they’ll be willing to let you clean their teeth.

You can also purchase dog toothbrushes that are made to fit comfortably in your pets mouth and have soft bristles that won’t harm your dogs gums. You can also buy a toothbrush that fits over your finger to make reaching the back teeth easy. These will make brushing your dogs teeth a breeze.

If Fido still won’t let you anywhere near his teeth, buy a toy designed for keeping your pets teeth clean. These toys are fun for your dog to chew and they won’t even know it’s cleaning their teeth!

You wouldn’t neglect your own dental health, so don’t neglect your pets. Dog breath can be avoided if you’re diligent about keeping your dogs teeth clean.
