Summer Bucket List for Dogs + a Free Printable!

Summer is the perfect opportunity to explore new places and go on adventures. Every summer I like to make a bucket list full of activities I want to do while the weather is warm and the days are long. This summer, I created a bucket list of summer activities for not just me, but my dog as well. Treat your pup to the summer of a lifetime with my summer bucket list for dogs! I’ve attached a free printable at the end of this post so you can check off each adventure as you complete it.

Go Hiking

Take your dog hiking this summer for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Your pup will be thrilled to explore a new area and all the smells that come with it. Make sure you pack some treats for you, and your dog, as well as plenty of water! Grab your pet first aid kit and collapsible water bowl and you’ll be ready for a day outdoors.

Visit A Local Brewery

Most outdoor brewery and wineries are dog friendly! Gather up some friends for a day of chatting and trying new drinks. Breweries are a great place to meet other pet parents and socialize your dog. They’ll be thrilled to spend a relaxing day outdoors with you and your friends.

Get Ice Cream

No summer bucket list for dogs would be complete without the ultimate summer treat! Ice cream is a fine treat for your pooch to have in moderation. Most walk up ice cream locations offer a “pup cup” option for free, or relatively cheap! Bring your dog along for a cup of vanilla ice cream while you enjoy a hot fudge sundae of your own.

Go Swimming

Many breeds of dogs LOVE the water! Take your dog swimming at a local pool, lake or beach! Make sure that the location is dog friendly, as not all private swimming locations are. Swimming is great exercise for dogs and the perfect opportunity to cool down on a hot day. Don’t forget to purchase a life vest for your dog to keep them safe, and make sure not to take your eyes off of them while they’re in the water.

Road Trip

Road trips are the perfect way to travel with your pup! Go on a road trip to a new city for a day or a weekend and visit all the dog friendly locations in the area.

You can even go for a drive with no location in mind! Most dogs will enjoy getting to drive down the road with their head out the window, even if the end location is back at home.

Camping

Camping is a great summer activity to do with your dog. Spend a night under the stars, sitting by a warm fire, and enjoying some roasted hotdogs.

While camping with your dog can be a blast, there are risks that come with it. Make sure you bring a first aid kit with you and monitor your dog closely during your stay.

Picnic In A Park

Find a nearby park and go for a picnic! Bring some special treats for your pup like summer fruits or a plain hamburger of their own. Spend a couple hours taking in the fresh air and letting your furry friend explore.

Make A Frozen Treat

Instead of buying your dog ice cream, make it! Try your hand at making homemade ice cream or frozen treats to keep your pup cool this summer.

Explore A Farmers Market

Farmers markets pop up everywhere during the warmer months and are the perfect summer activity to do with your dogs. Find some locally made treats for you and your pet and spend time socializing with your neighbors.

Visit A Beach

So many dogs adore the beach. Running through the sand and jumping in the waves is a blast for many of our furry friends. Visit a beach this summer with your pet for the ultimate summer activity. Pack up a cooler of water and snacks and go for a long walk down the sand or play a game of frisbee.
