Kong Stuffing Recipe Ideas

The classic Kong toy has been wildly popular amongst pet parents for years, and for good reason! The classic Kong is durable, great for tough chewers, and will keep your dog busy for hours. You can stuff Kong’s with many different treats to keep them entertained and happy for years to come. Not sure where to start? Today I’m sharing 6 Kong stuffing recipe ideas for even the pickiest pup.

Peanut Butter

This is the obvious choice when it comes to Kong stuffing recipe ideas because what dog doesn’t love peanut butter? Stuff the toy full of your dogs favorite peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol free!) for a sweet and yummy treat.

Note: Pop the peanut butter stuffed Kong in the freezer for a couple of hours for a longer lasting snack.

Yogurt Parfait

Yogurt parfaits aren’t just for humans! With some unsweetened yogurt and dog safe fruits, your furry friend can enjoy a parfait too.

Ingredients:

• Plain, unsweetened greek yogurt
• Dog friendly fruits such as: bananas, blueberries, strawberries, apples, or raspberries

Directions:

• Chop up fruit into small pieces
• Mix fruit into a 1/2 cup of plain yogurt
• Stuff the fruit and yogurt mixture into the Kong
• Optional: place Kong into the freezer 

Pumpkin

Did you know that pumpkin is great for your dogs digestion? If your pup is experiencing issues such as diarrhea, consider stuffing a Kong full of 100% pumpkin puree.

Omelet

Another human breakfast that can be good for your dog too! Combine eggs, meat, cheese and veggies for a dog friendly omelet.

Ingredients:

• 1 egg
• Ground beef or turkey
• Shredded cheese
• Dog friendly veggies such as spinach or broccoli

Directions:

• Scramble one egg
• Cook your ground meat
• Combine egg and meat with cheese and veggies
• Stuff into a Kong

Apple Pie

Want to share some dessert with your dog after dinner? These few ingredients can create a delicious apple pie Kong stuffing recipe.

Ingredients:

• Apple
• Plain oatmeal
• Yogurt
• Banana

Directions:

• Cook your plain oatmeal in water
• Chop an apple and a banana into small pieces
• Mix oatmeal, fruit and oatmeal
• Stuff into Kong
• Optional: place the stuffed Kong into the freezer for a couple of hours

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to stuff your dogs Kong, the Kong spray filling is a great option for you. It’s a simple and convenient way to fill up your dogs toy and comes in multiple different flavors.

Note: Kong spray filling is not a very healthy option in terms of dog treats. Use it sparingly and as a treat only.
