How to Organize Your Dog Supplies in 2022

Much like children, dogs require a lot of different supplies. From walking gear, to toys, to important paperwork, it’s easy to feel like your home has been taken over by your dogs belongings. If you’re looking to start off the new year with a clean and organized house, you’re in the right spot. Today, I’m sharing 6 ways to organize your dog supplies in 2022.

How to Organize Your Dogs Walking Gear

Leashes, collars and harnesses can easily take up a lot of space and be difficult to properly store. You want them to be easily accessible for daily walks, but also in a spot where they won’t be a major eye sore.

Hooks and wall mounts are great ways to organize your dogs walking supplies. I use an over the door hanger to store my dogs leash, harness, and martingale collar so that they’re all in one easy spot to grab and go. You could also consider command hooks or a wall mount to hang right next to your front door.

Etsy has a ton of cute options if you’re looking for a personalized dog leash organizer.

How to Organize Your Dogs Toys

If your house is anything like mine, dog toys frequently find themselves sprawled out all over the living room floor. This can be a major eye sore, and also a pain when you accidentally step on a chewed up bone. Organize your dogs toys with a cute basket placed in the corner of the room. I got a basket for relatively inexpensive at Target, but you can also find cute ones at home goods stores, pet stores, or even on Amazon

If your dog has too many toys, rotate them out to keep them all exciting and fresh. Periodically, I like to go through my dogs toys, throw out any old and broken ones, and rotate them around so there are constant new toys for her to choose from. Storage containers are a great place to store your overflow of toys, and when you think your dog needs something new, you’ll already have “new” toys ready to go!

How to Organize Your Dogs Food

Did you know that many dogs suffer from a storage mite allergy, and that these storage mites often find themselves in dog kibble? If you have a kibble fed dog, keeping it in the original bag is not a good idea. Not only is it more likely to become infested with storage mites, it’s also more prone to bugs and rodents chewing through the bag and getting into the food.

Store your dogs kibble in an air tight bin to keep it fresh and safe from mites and other pests. TJ Maxx has a great supply of dog food bins for a good price. You can also find them reasonably priced on Amazon or Chewy. If you store your dogs food in area such as the garage, you can use a regular storage tote as food storage.

How to Organize Your Dogs Clothing

My dog has a very large bandana collection, and storing them has always been a struggle. If your dog also has a closet worthy amount of bandanas or other clothing, use plastic shoe bins as a neat way to store them.

Separate the bandanas or clothing by season and keep them organized in bins. Now when it’s spring you can pull out the spring bandanas and when it’s Christmas you can pull out the Christmas bandanas!

How to Organize Your Dogs Grooming and Medical Supplies

Heartworm pills, toothpaste, shampoo, and brushes are all important for your dogs health but also can be a pain to store and easy to lose. Keep all of your dogs medical and grooming supplies in one place such as a medicine cabinet or bathroom. Organizers with multiple pockets are a great way to store all of these important items.

Be sure to keep all medications in a safe spot where dogs and children won’t be able to get to them.

How to Organize Your Dogs Paperwork

Having all of your dogs paperwork is important should you ever run into an emergency, but it can be a lot to keep track of. Keep all of your dogs medical records, microchip information, and breeder paperwork together in a file folder or binder.

I prefer to use a binder with dividers to keep all paperwork separated into its own categories. If you have multiple dogs, use a large binder and give each dog their own section. Place this binder in a safe spot, such as a fire safe, so you know it won’t get lost.
