The famous Pumpkin Spice Latte, frequently known as the “PSL”, is a staple for many once fall rolls around. The cinnamon and pumpkin flavored drink is the exact combination of autumn tastes that gets us excited for cool weather and our annual Gilmore Girls rewatch. To be honest, I am not the biggest PSL fan, but I could not pass up on the opportunity to create a dog friendly version of the famous beverage for my pups. If you’re looking to spice up your dogs usual pup cup this fall, then you’ll love this dog friendly pumpkin spice latte recipe.

How to Make a Dog Friendly Pumpkin Spice Latte

Making a pumpkin spice latte for your dog is so simple, you’ll be left wondering why you haven’t been doing it for years! All you’ll need are 4 easy to find ingredients, a plastic cup, and a spoon. You can also make this recipe in the blender, but if you’re looking to cut down on the amount of dishes you’ll have to do later, a spoon or whisk works just fine.

To make your dog friendly PSL you’ll need unsweetened coconut milk, 100% pumpkin puree (make sure it’s not pumpkin pie filling!), whipped cream, and a dash of cinnamon. This recipe is great because it can be easily altered to be dairy or sugar free. If your pup has a hard time with dairy, or you want to cut down on their sugar intake, simply use a dairy free/sugar free whipped cream, or make your own!

Why I Love this PSL Recipe for Dogs

Not only is this such a quick and fun recipe for your furry friend, it’s also a pretty healthy treat! Both coconut milk and pumpkin have several health benefits for your dog including freshening breath, strengthening the immune system, and helping aid the digestive tract. When creating recipes for my dogs, making sure that they are not only yummy, but healthy as well, is always one of my top priorities.

This recipe is also extremely customizable to fit all dogs dietary needs. If coconut milk doesn’t sit well with your dog you can use goats milk or almond milk instead. The whipped cream can be dairy free, sugar free, homemade, or taken off all together if need be. And while cinnamon has some great benefits for dogs such as anti-inflammatory properties, it can easily be left off if you aren’t sure how your dog will react.
